Ryan Truex - No. 16 Martin Truex Jr. Foundation Toyota Tundra
On a Heater … There’s nothing more dangerous to the house than a player on a heater, and the driver that is most dangerous to the field of playoff drivers is Ryan Truex, driver of the No. 16 Martin Truex Jr. Foundation Toyota Tundra. Truex and his HRE team are one of the hottest teams in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series garage after finishing in the top five in five of the last six races. Last weekend at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Truex nearly captured his first-career NCWTS victory, finishing second after leading 28 laps.
Hoping for a “Golden Knight” … Before getting on track at LVMS, Truex will join the NHL's Vegas Golden Knights at the City National Arena on Friday afternoon for an instructional shooting lesson following the team’s morning skate. While the NHL’s newest team led by head coach Gerald Gallant will be looking for their first win in the league when the season begins, Truex is doing the same on the racetrack. Truex has been knocking on the door to victory lane for several weeks with five top-five finishes in the last six races. He has led a total of 67 laps over the last three races and has an average finish of 3.3 in that span. The New Jersey native hopes that he’ll finally have a golden night on Saturday at LVMS and grab his first-career NCWTS victory.
Season to Date …Through 17 of 23 races, Truex has produced an impressive stat line with seven top-five and 11 top-10 finishes and earned his first-career pole position at Chicagoland Speedway. Coming into his first NCWTS start at LVMS, Truex has been on a tear. He has led 57 laps in the last two races and has collected three consecutive top-five finishes. He has earned two stage victories, one each at Chicagoland and NHMS, and is fifth in aggregate points earned over the entire season.
Making a Difference … The Martin Truex Jr. Foundation (MTJF) will take center stage on Truex’s No. 16 Toyota on Saturday at LVMS. The Martin Truex Jr. Foundation was started in 2007 by Ryan’s brother and Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series driver Martin Truex Jr. and long-time girlfriend, Sherry Pollex. The foundation exists through the generosity of donors, partners and corporate sponsors passionate about the mission to help support underfunded cancer initiatives specific to ovarian and childhood cancers, and assist the individuals and families affected by them.
Take the Wheel …In addition to carrying the yellow and teal ribbons in recognition of Childhood and Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, Truex will race a special steering wheel at LVMS. Truex’s MPI wheel will carry the yellow and teal colors as well as the MTJF logo. Fans can bid on the autographed steering wheel to benefit the MTJF at month’s end.
Chassis Selection… Chassis No. 007 from HRE will make its fourth start in Saturday’s Las Vegas 350. This Toyota Tundra was built new over the summer months and has been stout since debuting with a third-place finish at Pocono Raceway. Chassis No. 007 finished fourth at Michigan, and led 29 laps en route to a fourth-place result at Chicago in its most recent outing. Truex looks to drive his favorite HRE chassis to his first-career victory at LVMS this weekend.
Tune In…FOX Sports 1 has live coverage from the “Sin City” speed plant beginning at 4 p.m. ET for pole qualifying. FS1’s race coverage gets underway at 7:30 p.m. ET with the Setup followed by the green flag for the Las Vegas 350 at 8 p.m. ET.
